I, somehow, got assigned the task of being the ring leader for the creation of our kits for the trip. Although, this makes little to no sense considering I have zero respectable artistic insight let alone ability, the journey of coming up with the ideal uniform has been an exhilarating one.
First, we decided to reach out to the St. Paul’s community to find an artistically talented student that would work with us to design our team wear. One chapel announcement and a myriad (bonus points for the use of SAT vocab) of emails later, we had 3 students interested. Once the complex logistics of designing a cyclist’s kit were laid out (computerized templates, working with real time company representatives, something called a vector file?!), all 3 students lost interest pretty quickly…
BUT, we can thank the cycling kit lords for our adobe illustrator savvy savior who goes by the name Eddie. Eddie graciously stepped in and designed 3 different logos. After a quick collaboration among the squad, we picked out one of the logos and Eddie went to work to put the logo onto the actual jersey.
Funny story, though – the two wheels on the stick-figure-like bicycle in the logo didn’t turn out so nicely across the chest of the jersey…… they looked like a nice pair of BOOBS! Ha! No fear, though, the intrepid (more SAT bonus points) Eddie sat down and recreated an AWESOME jersey. I am mucho excited to plaster my sweat, saliva, and determination to the sleeves of the kit this summer!
Xoxo,
Jade, Collegeboard SAT books, & Thor.
